The Chris Haycocks Scholarship
The Chris Haycocks Scholarship will be awarded to a Freshman who has been accepted in to Virginia Tech. To be considered for this scholarship, the applicant must have played rugby at his High School or played for a rugby club’s age grade program. He must also show a record of being able to balance the work-load of a student while being able to add value to the team as a dedicated student-athlete. The value of this scholarship will fluctuate from year to year – its value for 2018 is approximately $1,000.

He arrived at Virginia tech in 1969 and taught Mining Engineering for 33 years. During its early years Dr. Haycocks coached, mentored and helped build the foundations of Men’s rugby at Virginia Tech.
The Adam Kaufman Leadership Award
The Adam Kaufman Leadership Award will be given to a rising Senior who has demonstrated a dedication to the sport and team during his time at Virginia Tech. The award will reflect not only playing ability on the field but also hard work and dedication to the team and studies. The value of this scholarship will fluctuate from year to year – its value for 2018 is about $1,000.
The award will be decided upon by the VT Men’s Rugby Endowment Committee with recommendations being made by Coaches and the incumbent President of the team.Adam Kaufman graduated from Virginia Tech in 1997 with a BSc in Industrial and Systems Engineering. He played scrum-half for five years and was President for three years between 1993 and 1996. Since graduating, Adam has been a stronger supporter and donor of the Tech Rugby Alumni Association and Virginia Tech Men’s rugby. Adam is currently the General Manager of quality assurance for Whalen Furniture and is based in China.
